Week 6 (July 3-7) Wyoming Seadragons - Summer Swim Season 2023

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Thanks to those who had dinner and drinks through our Fundraiser at Arepa Place! And it looks like our 11 and overs had a great time kayaking earlier today! We’re looking forward to the Wyoming Community Parade and those who can join us Tuesday morning.

July 4

City of Wyoming - 4th of July Parade: Calling all Wyoming Seadragon Families - join us in the City of Wyoming 4th of July Parade. This year’s team parade theme is Eat My Bubbles (bring your bubble blowers, but wait for the parade to start so it can be a surprise!) Wear your Seadragon spirit wear and we will parade with our Red, White and Blue. Create an outfit, prop or sign for the parade. Most creative will win a combo box gift card from Raising Canes! Let us know if you can make it by committing to the event like you do a swim meet.

9:30am - Meet at Crescent Park.10am - Parade begins - The parade will follow west on Wyoming Ave, north on Springfield Pike, east on Wentworth and south on Burns and make its way back to Crescent Park. After the parade, children's games and an award ceremony.

There's also a lot happening including pool time and festivities at Oak Park

Upcoming Home Swim Meet:
Thursday, July 6 @ the Wyoming Rec Center
Seadragon Swimmers report at 5:00pm, warmups 5:15pm – 5:45pm (Norwood Barracudas warm up 5:45pm – 6:15pm)
Meet starts at 6:15pm

  • It’s Candyland Theme – Wyoming Seadragons let’s make the night sweet! Dress the part and transform the pool deck into the Kingdom of Sweet Adventures.
  • Deadline to declare your swimmer is Tuesday, July 4 at 11:30pm. We don’t want to make any assumptions on a swimmer’s status if they are swimming or not. Please communicate if your swimmer is swimming or not through Swimtopia.
  • Spirit Wear will be available! Spiritwear is going fast - make sure you grab your gear at this week's home meet and wear it proud at Champs this year! Embroidered hoodies should be in this week and will be distributed as soon as we receive them! Questions? Contact Parent Board Volunteer - Leslie, [email protected]
  • Seadragon Diner and Grill will be open! Come hungry! Cash and credit will be accepted.
  • We do need a few more volunteers, specifically timers to make this meet happen.

Do you have pictures to share from Practices and Meets? We don’t have a team photographer this year, but we have lots of families taking pictures and videos that might be willing to share. Feel free to upload them to our Seadragon share folder.

Upcoming Championships:
[] Commit your swimmer as attending by Friday, July 7
[] Make your game plan for champs
[] Sign up to volunteer

Our Championship meet is just around the corner, July 17-18 hosted at St. Bernard. This is the end goal for ALL of our swimmers…to swim our best individual and relay times at Championships. What I love seeing is everyone cheering each other on and the exhilaration of the race.

Our team is well over 100 swimmers strong. I’d love to see ALL our swimmers there. If your swimmer can be there to swim, please commit them to be there. Every swimmer can contribute to points earned at Championships. If your family needs help, if it’s rides, taking turns watching over kids, settling nerves, please let us know how we can help. I didn’t get through any of our past championships without asking questions or for help.

During Champs, we will need assistance on deck for timers/relievers and backups during all sessions. Please sign up to help if you can or use a Helper for Hire (or other trusted friend/neighbor) in your place.

Parent Board:
We have an awesome group of parents who serve on the board and official volunteer capacities. This is the strongest most spirited group of people around and they hustle behind the scenes like no other! We have many families that are graduating. We need newer families to step up and take on roles that these families have paved the path for. All families are invited to join the parent board and take on a major role within the swim team. If we don’t fill positions now for the next swim season, some amenities may not be available to our swimmers and families. If you are interested in filling a role on the Parent Board or an official volunteer role, please send an email to April, [email protected] as soon as possible. There are some opportunities to shadow before the end of the season.

Have a great week!  Please reach out if you have any questions!
