The Junior Seadragons program is an extension of the main swim team, designed to bridge the gap between swim lessons and competitive swimming. Junior Seadragons may compete in the regular season meets when the coaches feel they have met key swim objectives.
It is a fun and innovative environment where the concepts of competitive swimming are introduced and developed. It is our objective to get swimmers ready for competition, making sure that they are able to swim freestyle and backstroke legally while also teaching the most basic understanding of breaststroke and butterfly.
If referencing the levels for Swim Lessons through the Wyoming Rec Center, the level preference for swimmers is Octopus, maybe Jellyfish for Junior Seadragon swimmers.
The goal of Junior Seadragons is to be able to compete on the Seadragons Team by the end of the season. All prospective swimmers will be assessed at the start of the season to determine placement on the team. In addition, we ask that every parent be able to answer these questions about their swimmer before signing up for Junior's:
- Is my child able to be in the water by themselves (including deep end)?
- Can my child float on their back?
- Can my child put their face in the water?
- Has my child done swim lessons before, and if so, what level did they successfully complete?
Due to the need for a small coach to swimmer ratio, admissions will be limited to no more than 25 swimmers. For questions or more information, reach out to Head Coach Jen Golden.
See you at the pool!
