Wyoming Seadragons: Season Kick-Off on Tuesday, May 9

Message to all families –

Just a couple of weeks away and we’ll be in the water with the Wyoming Seadragons! This email has a lot of information, but hopefully this will save you from receiving multiple messages in the future. Be sure to bookmark and update you contact information on our Wyoming Seadragons Team website.

TEAM KICK-OFF
Our Team Kick-Off will be on Tuesday, May 9 from 6-8pm on the pool deck of the Wyoming Recreation and Aquatics Center (Rain Location - Wyoming Civic Center). This is a great time to meet the Coaches, purchase team suits and other equipment from Swimville, check out our line of spirit wear, grab your swim caps, sign up for family volunteer slots for events, home and away meets and meet your fellow team mates and families. There will be a freebox bin of hand-me-down Seadragon suits/apparel. If you have any to contribute please bring them or need a suit please take one. Please note that the pool is not open that evening.

We will follow up with any families unable to attend the Team Kick-Off.

PRACTICES
Practice schedules are posted on the website. Morning Practices will begin on Tuesday, May 30. Especially for the younger swimmers, this first week will be an opportunity to evaluate swimming ability and independence to ensure the correct placement of swimmers in each group.

Practices will run every weekday leading up to the Championship swim meet on July 17 and 18. In the event of any last-minute updates (usually because of weather), a text message will be sent to families. Make sure your cell phone number is up-to-date on our Team website (after signing in, click on “my Account” and update your contact information).

TEAM SUIT

Ordering information for our team suit is now available. Please order soon to ensure arrival by our first swim meet. At the meets, swimmers should wear their official team suit or any Navy suit.

Communicating with the Coaches
Coach Jen and the rest of the team of coaches are excited to work with your swimmers. All communication can be directed to [email protected]. In the subject, include your swimmers name and age group.

Family volunteer requirements and opportunities

It takes many volunteers to run our swim meets and various events. Each family must sign up for at least three volunteer worker positions at one of our practices, home meets, away meets, or team events. Volunteer spots will first open at the Kick-Off. Volunteer spots will reopen online on Tuesday, May 30 at 12 pm after our first morning practice. Between that time, families that missed the kick-off can communicate with Jen Rubi, [email protected]. There are many kinds of volunteer spots available from purchasing items for the team or concession stand, timing, to helping the younger swimmers get to their events. Some volunteer slots like donations will be exclusively for families who only have Junior Seadragons.

There are a few special volunteer opportunities that can take care of all of your required volunteer worker positions. Contact April Robles, [email protected] if you would like to take on one of these roles.

  • Officiating: Be an Official! Learn how to Officiate our NSSL Dual Meets and be close to the action!! We could use 2-4 more adults/parents/family members. This is a priority role that is imperative to fill. Officials Training is on June 7.
  • Meet Photographer: take a variety of pictures at practices, meets, events throughout the season. It would be nice to have a person who likes to take pictures as a hobby and has a good DSLR camera. Coordinate social media on FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter and create the end of season slideshow.
  • Event Coordinator: Help coordinate Senior Night, Breakfast of Champions and End of the Season Celebration.

This is a lot of information, but the Parent Board will be at the Kick-Off event to answer all questions in person.

Until then, feel free to reach out to me by call/text/email me.

Thanks!

-April
